They set out of a road trip and encounter other none christian heavens on the way, and they try to discover what is going on.

There are a lot of religious questions asked with this book, so if you have hard nosed views on faith, then this is more than likely not the book for you.

On the upside:

  • Well read and produced
  • Another solid Mur Lafferty story

On the downside:

  • Novella length, but there are other books in the series.

Overall, this is a good novella, and it is well written and read. The book has an interesting take on heaven and religion. A strange, but excellent tale of love, faith and the afterlife.

The Ministry of Peculiar Occurances – Tales from the Archives is an anthology of short storys based in the steam punk world of the Ministry of Peculiar Occurances which have been created by Pip Ballantine and Tee Morris.

This podcast contains both story stories and interviews about the Ministry of Peculiar Occurances.

This is not the audio book of Phoenix Rising the first book in the Ministry of Peculiar Occurances, but stories by different authors using the same backgrounds and settings, even some characters from Phoenix Rising make an appearance from time to time.

On the upside:

  • Well read and produced
  • Great addition of the original story
  • Lots of Steam Punk fun

On the downside:

  • Interviews outnumber the short stories at present

Overall, if you like Steam Punk or love the work of Pip Ballantine and Tee Morris, then this podcast is a must have. I have found all the storys so far released to been very good and expanded the ministries activities nicely. I hope there will be more short stories soon in the feed and I await with baited breath.

INTERVIEW FOR A WIZARD [PODCAST] – REVIEW (73%)

Interview for a Wizard is a tale of magic and a dark secret written by J A Areces.

This book tells the tale of young man called Jesse who works in a stop that sells magical items to the general public, like wands, staffs and cloaks. Business is booming in the run up to Halloween. Then things are turned on their heads with the appearance of Ch-U-Ch a wizard tells Jesse that his boss is all he appears to be.

Evil is going to be unleashed on Halloween, can Ch-U-Ch and Jesse stop an evil plan.

On the upside:

  • Well read and produced
  • Interesting characters

On the downside:

  • It is clear that English is not J A Areces first language, it took me a few minutes to adjust to his accent.

Overall, this is a good story, and although the main story line is pretty clear cut, there are a few twists and turns on the way. It also introduces more information for future books. The book is well worth a listen and should give you a few smiles along the way.
