FRIENDLY – FACEBOOK BROWSER – REVIEW (6.5/10)

Friendly is an application that browses your facebook account allowing you all the access of the desktop version in a touch friendly format, it is released by Oecoway Inc.

The application is appears to be a small webkit browser that links into the Facebooks API and services. You enter your account details and away you go, browsing Facebook in a more touch controlled format.

On the upside:
a) When it works properly, the facebook browsing is excellent, with chat etc, all working fine.

On the downside:
a) I found the application very unstable, even are a reset of the iPad. Somethings the app did not even get past the friendly loading logo.
b) There are a few bugs, but not such an issue as the one above.

Overall, the app does what it claims to do, most of the time. I found I spent too many time restarting the app or looking at a friendly logo or white screen as something failed to load. If the app worked 90% of the time it would be worth the download, but when it is more like 50% then I cannot recommend at this stage. Maybe in a future update it will be more stable.

TWITTERRIFIC FOR TWITTER – REVIEW (7.5/10)

Twifferific is a Twitter application by the Icon factory

I have been looking at several twitter applications in the last few weeks as I had a personal account that was not really used, but now I have the second account set up for InternetGumshoe I found that logging onto the twitter website was taking extra time, as I had to log in and log out.

After looking at several free applications I found this one, and on the whole it is not bad at all.

I have used it for Free, and the adverts and lack of other accounts was a limitation. So I upgraded, and have been happily using it since.

The application is not as full featured as one or two of the other applications of its type, but in general it does all I need to do and allows me to swap quickly between my multiple accounts.

The biggest problem I have found with the app, is there is no easy way to find people and add them.

I am using the application on the iPad as it is Dual format.

Overall, I would recommend this app if like me you have multiple account, but if you are a single account user then there may be better options out there for you, especially if you do not want to pay the £2.99 upgrade to get rid of the adverts.

TWEET – IPAD EDITION – REVIEW (5/10)

Tweet is a twitter client for the iPad by Phone Reports Inc.

As soon as I opened this application I got the immediate feel that this software was in beta, but it is currently on version v2.42.

The software itself is very good, with lot of twitter options to select from, and on this side the application is as complete as you could want.

However, I noticed immediately on opening the software that the tweet compose button did not work, so not off to a flying start as this is clearly the main reason for getting the app.

Some of the screen layout goes “off the page” and there seems like some options missing, like an personal inbox where you cannot delete the message.

Hopefully over time this software will improve with patches, but until then I cannot recommend it, but as it is free you can always download, and test it each time it updates, that is my plan at the moment.

FLIPBOARD (IPAD) – REVIEW (8/10)

Flipboard is a “news” reader that allows you to link into various feeds and view the contents in an interesting way. Facebook and Twitter feeds can be added.

It can be a little slow at times, and sometimes a feed does not load in (no content appears in the box), but in the main this is a great iPad app for viewing information.

It takes random information for the feeds and places it into a flip book, so for example with facebook, various quotes will be displayed, wall messages, a photo album or two that have been uploaded and anything else the flipboard thinks you will find interesting.

So you will not see all the information posted, use facebook for this, but if you want a nice overview of what is happening rather than reading everything flipboard is great.

I find myself going to the flipboard often and it brings some of the feeds to life.
