COIN FLIGHT [TOUCHPAD] – REVIEW (48%)

24 May

Coin Flight is a flying collection game and is released by Imperial Pengiun.

(Screenshot taken for App Catalogue, as not possible to take on Touchpad, image not as displayed here.)

“Fly your sport plane and collect coins in this simple, but challenging and addictive 3D arcade game. Coin Flight features 50 randomly generated levels of increasing difficulty to insure that the game is different every time you play it.”

Take to the skies in this game and collect the coins that float in the air.

The basic ideas of the game is launch on a mission, which is allows collect coins. Collection them and get more than 80% and then move onto the next level (So at least 80 out of 100 coins).

That is basically it for the game, there are no additional plane, options or power ups. There are lots of other games out their on the Touchpad that offer so much more than that.

The gameplay is reasonable, but the collection of the coins is dull to say the least, it is dull on level 1 and repeating this afterward just is not appealing.

The game is controlled (default) by tilt control, which even after calibration is a little poor. You do have a virtual joystick on offer and that works much better.

The graphics reasonable, although apart from the plane you feel the developer has just photographed their pocket change for the rest of the graphics. There is no music and the sound effects are annoying at best, and I turned them down almost immediately.

Another disappointment in the game was that the game stays in portrait and looks nothing like the screen shots. Words are cut off on buttons, the virtual joystick is just on the screen and the coin total is off screen most of the time.

On the upside:

  • Lots of random levels.

On the downside:

  • No music and poor sound.
  • Dull gameplay.
  • No worth the price tag.
  • Only works in portrait, which looks different from the screen shots on the App Catalogue.

Overall, I found this game a big dissappointment. Gameplay was dull, sound effects annoying and a real lack luster application that I do not feel the developers ever played on the Touchpad themselves. An old application, that is best avoided.
