Dr. Battery allows you view info on your devices battery and is released by Somline.

This application allows you to see how your Touchpad’s battery (and other webOS hardware) is fairing. There is lots of technical information in this application for the techy’s to get their teeth into.

For the less technical, it will show if the battery is running hot or if the battery is running close to the manufacturers rating.

The application offers recalibration on other webOS devices, but is not supported on the Touchpad at this time.

Dr Battery is navigated using three tabs at the base of the screen for Actual (Battery State), Health (Battery Health) and Calibr. (Battery Calibration).

It would be nice if the application would offer some advice for the none technical, like should I be worried if the battery is running at 90% the manufacturer rating, I am guessing a little, but after several months of use it is to be expected it is declining from the 100% leave.

The user interface is easy to use with nice battery graphics.

On the upside:

  • Gives you a better understanding on what your touchpad battery is doing.
  • You can try and fix issues on other webOS devices.

On the downside:

  • Touchpad is not fully supported.
  • Lack of help for the less tech savy.

Overall, this is another homebrew application that is nice to have, and due to its small install size will not bother you having it on the device. It is a good way have having a “sanity check” if you feel your Touchpad battery is draining a little too fast. The application has room for improvement, but generally it does a solid job.
