SECUSTORE [IOS] – REVIEW (89%)

08 Mar

SecuStore is a password manager / secure storage utility released by MaKleSoft.

“Unique features like the built-in password generator and cloud synchronization make SecuStore one of the most powerful password managers out there. And its absolute flexibility allows you to use it for much more than just storing passwords. SecuStore is a cross-platform password manager / secure storage utility currently available for webOS, iOS and Chrome. Soon to be available in the Mac App Store!”

This application allows you keep all your passwords and other information safe and secure in one application.

The application lets you set up folder (sets) in which you can store the passwords and data. So you could have a work and home folder with different locking passwords containing the various data.

Once you have created a folder, with a locking password, you can begin to add passwords and data into the project. There are a number of pre-defined templates available or you can create your own. These templates include Internet, Pin, CreditCards, License Keys etc.

When you add data into the application you get the data set up by the template (so if a website – name, URL, login name, password and notes) If you have an existing account you can just type in the data you are already using. If you are creating a new account, then the application offers a random password creator which gives a list of weak to very strong passwords to select from.

All the data can be synced to other devices by the use of a dropbox account and the set up is very simple and quick.

The biggest advantage of this on the iOS is of course you do not have to remember all your password, just the one from the secure folder. Then you can copy the password and paste it into the website or accounts page that is asking for the data.

The user interface is very good and easy to use.

On the upside:

  • Able to generate complex passwords and save them on the move.
  • One place for all your password, and they are available when you forget them.
  • Universal Application

On the downside:

  • Just do not forget your master folder passwords
  • Leaves you wishing that Advanced Browser was out of iOS too.

Overall, this is an excellent application for the keeping your passwords and other information safe and secure. For me 1password has been my password manager of choice for several years now, but MaKleSoft are expanding SecuStore all the time, with Chrome and webOS support with a Mac version on the way (which I hope is priced as reasonably as the other apps). At this price I think SecuStore may well replace 1password for me in the near future.
