Peg Puzzle: ABC 123 is a digital peg jigsaw game and is released by Pulse Apps.
“Peg Puzzle: abc 123 is a digital take on the classic children’s wooden peg puzzle toys. A fun and interactive way of learning, the game helps to develop fine motor skills, hand eye coordination, logical thinking skills and can also be used as a tool to help develop vocabulary.”
The application allow you to select from three different peg board, these are:
- Letters a-z (Lower case)
- Letters A-Z (Upper case)
Once selected a peg board will appear with slots for six randomly selected characters in that theme. The letters has the full alphabet and numbers go up to 20.
There is a bar at the top of the screen to select the numbers or letters (depending on the board selected), these are listed in order and the child needs to press the arrows to move to the correct page to match the peg. The child then selects the peg and pulls it onto the same number or letter on the board.
Once all six number or letters are placed the game plays the sound of applauding.
The graphics of the pegs are nicely done, there is music in the application, only sound effects when the pegs are placed and the end of the game.
This app is aimed at the two to four years old, and as my daughter is four I gave it to her to test it. She enjoyed the application. I would say that a 4 to 5 year old is the perfect age for this one as it covers what my daughter is currently learning at school and bedding in the basics. It was good to see her quickly scrolling the top bar to get to the correct area to find the number or letter she was looking for.
On the upside:
- Easy to use interface.
- Great for kids between 3 and 5.
On the downside:
- Does feel a little bit too educational, but my daughter did not seem to mind.
- A bit lacking on the sound and music side.
Overall, this is a great application if you have kids under five. I was nice to watch my daughter using the application and scrolling through the numbers to find the number she was looking for, fun and educational what more could a parent want? It would have been nice to have shapes (as my daughter is learning them at school too), but that would have been a very limited amount of pegs. Anyway, well worth a download for those kids or grand kids.
