Make a scene: Polar Adventure is an animated sticker book released by Innivo Ltd.

“Do your children enjoy making a scene? Then give them ‘Make a Scene’, and give yourself some precious peace and quiet. Make A Scene Polar Adventure is a fun interactive game that engages children’s natural sense of creativity.”

The application allow you to create a scene from the north or south pole using the animated “stickers” and backgrounds available.

As you place the sticker their name is read out allowed, then the sound effect. At the same time the stick will go through its animation. As you continue to add to the scene, the stickers will animate at random times.

There are several backgrounds and foregrounds to select from. The backgrounds contain mostly ice or mostly sea, which unfortuantely cuts down the snickers that can be used on each background. There are a lot of stickers to select from around 50 in all. The stickers are varied and include polar bears, penguins, people and seals.

One of the issues with the application is that several of the snickers for water based creatures, and you need a sea background to use them, but then half of the snickers can only be used on land, and there is not enough space to place them into the scene and visa versa.

The screen is uncluttered with only the top bar for adding the stickers and then three buttons at the base to allow the screen to be cleared or saved and to select a new background or foreground.

I gave this one to both my kids to try and they liked it. The Touchpad did come back faster than with the other titles. I think that this was due to a more limited backgrounds and snicker set and my son telling me you do not have polar bears and penguins on the same picture.

The graphics and sounds are both very good.

On the upside:

  • Nice artwork.
  • Easy to use interface.
  • Nice sound effects.

On the downside:

  • Would be nice to resize the stickers manually, rather than based on the position on the screen.
  • Use of snickers is limited by the backgrounds selected.

Overall, this is good application and will keep younger kids happy. My kids liked this application, but were not as keen on it as others of the Make a Scene range. I felt it was a little more limited in the range of snickers than some of the other application.
