Toyshop Adventures is a platform game released by Glu Mobile.
“Our shopkeeper has lost his marbles (quite literally!) and it’s up to you to help him find his special marbles and restore balance to this once peaceful toy store! Guide one of the shopkeeper’s favorite toys through a variety of playful, platform puzzles.”
This application puts you in control of a toys from a toy shop. The owner has lost his marbles (due to an accident with a robot) and you set out to recover his marbles for him.
Each level of the shop has a Lost and Found box at the end for the exit. You need to find you way to the box collecting all the marbles you can on the way. Robots are the enemy and you may get some side missions from other toys that will help you unlock new characters to play.
There are a few puzzles to solve along the way, like how to get to the marbles that appear to be out of reach, or crossing a large electrified floor.
There are power ups to be used, however, these need to be purchased with marbles and really are expensive for a power up. Most of the time you will no need the power ups, they make things easier, but sometimes almost too easy.
The game itself is fairly simple to play, you left and right buttons for movement and then additional buttons for jump and roping objects.
The graphics and sounds are very good. The graphics really are advertisements for Glu’s other games.
I have played the iOS version of this game, and they are very close indeed. This version has dropped in price from £4 down to £1.98, so I decided to take a look now. However, you have to remember that the iOS version is Free.
On the upside:
- Very playable platform game
- Several characters to play and unlock.
- Lots of levels to play.
On the downside:
- The game sometimes refused to respond on opening – had to flip from full screen to card several times before it worked again.
- FREE on iOS.
Overall, this is a very good a platform game. The puzzles in the game make things a lot more interesting then a simple platform game. There are lots of characters and levels, so this one will keep you playing for some time to come. It is well worth a look if you like your platform games.
