Simple Dice Plus is a dice roller application released by Codix.
“This application intention is to replace the dice that you usually use in many games, it generates a random number between 1 and 6. You can choose if you want to see numbers or dots in the screen.”
The application is a basic dice rolling application.
It allows you to roll a single virtual six sided dice and show the results in either dots or as a number.
The dice can be triggered to change by tapping the screen or shaking the device.
There are no real options or preferences in the application, just the ability to change between dots or numbers.
The user interface is basic, but functional.
It is hard to give this application a fair rating, the application does what it sets out to do, it turns your dice into a virtual simple dice and does it well. However, for 79p it is just not enough. There are lots of dice rolling applications on the HP App Catalog that do more than this application and are the same price or free.
There are lots of role players out there who want dice rollers that give you access to twenty sided dice and the links, and there are even board games that need 2 six sided dice added together. For people wanted these types of dice rollers this application will be a disappointment.
On the upside:
- Simple application.
- Does the job it set out to do.
On the downside:
- Limiting the app to one dice makes the market far to niché, role players are always looking for dice apps.
- Not optimised to use the full screen on the Touchpad.
Overall, this is a simple little application that sets out to do as the developer planned. The problem really is that it to too simple for what people want. The option to select the number of dice or even the type of dice for the role players out there would surely widen the market for this application. Hopefully the developer will add some more options soon.
