Tank Riders is a top down tank combat game released by Polarbit.
“WANTED: Able-bodied recruits to fill a number of sudden… vacancies in the 153rd tiny tank battalion. Only the finest, bravest and buffest need apply. In return, we offer all the honour and glory you can eat, and a tiny, little tank of your very own.”
This game puts you in control of a tank in a small battlefield, your job to destory the enemies on the map and making it to the exit area in one piece.
Gameplay wise, you have to need to navigate around the battle ground dodging fire and shooting the enemy tanks and turrets. Along the ways there are crates to shot to gather coins and health. There are also walls that need to be lowered using switches.
The single player works well with a tutorial that takes you through the basics, then there are two campaigns tp play through. The CPU player give a good challenge sometimes they will not move until you attack and others will fire all the time, but giving you are a second to dodge in and shot them.
There are some power ups in the games, like missiles and shields, but these are short lived and lost at the end of the level if you get that far.
Unfortunately, much as I tried I was unable to get my multiplayer account working, so was unable to play the multiplayer version.
The game is controlled using a virtual joystick and you tap in the direction you wish to fire.
The graphics and sound are both good with nice use of colours and light.
On the upside:
- Polished graphic.
- Fun game play.
On the downside:
- Game freezing issues.
- I could not get online to try the multiplayer.
- Lack of real power ups.
Overall, this is an interesting little game. The single player side of things is fun, but you sometimes feel that you are not advancing just playing one mission after another. Hopefully my issue with the multiplayer is just with my machine, if not a patch is need some and hopefully a few tweaks to gameplay can be added.
