Home Sheep Home 2 is a puzzle game released by Chillingo Ltd.
“Join Shaun, Timmy and Shirley as they journey through over 40 levels of underground caverns and negotiate the busy streets of London, all in search of the green, green grass of home. Use each sheep’s unique abilities to shove, leap, squeeze and swim your way through underground tunnels, abandoned mineshafts – and even evade the guards at Buckingham Palace!”
This application puts you in control of the three sheep from the Shaun the Sheep show as they move through the various puzzles (Shaun, Timmy and Shirley). You only have one character active at one time and you tap on the different sheep to control them.
Gameplay wise, you are placed in a puzzle level, you need to get all the sheep to the exit area collecting socks and bonus items on the way.
Each of the sheep have their own abilities. Timmy is small and can get through small gaps, Shaun can jump higher than the others and Shirly is big and can push heavy items, but can hardly jump at all.
The puzzles are generally easy enough to solve, with you using the sheep together to solve some of them. For example to reach a high platform the sheep can stand on each other, to give Shaun a higher launching place for his jump.
The game offers over 40 levels to play through and this should take a while to complete.
The biggest downside of the game is the way you can spend five minutes to set up the solution, and then be a tiny bit out of place and you fail and will need to start the whole puzzle again. I would have like a way to have saved your set up rather than having to do it all again.
The controls are done via virtual buttons to move left, right and jump. You can select the sheep by tapping on them, or their icon at the top.
The graphics and sounds are very good. The graphics have a nice look and similar to a hand drawn version of the animated series.
On the upside:
- Well designed puzzle game.
- Nice characters.
- Universal App.
On the downside:
- Crashing issues.
- One minor mistake or misplaced item and you will need to set it all up again.
Overall, this is a good a puzzle game. The puzzles are well designed without being overly simple. Some of the puzzle can be annoyingly precise. However, in the main the puzzles are good and challenging. With a few tweaks the app could be improved to a level where it could become a must have puzzle game.
