Sparky vs. Glutters is a puzzle action game released by Clickgamer.com
“It’s all about not being eaten. Awoken from a long rest, Sparky doesn’t remember anything about his past nor about others of his kind. Join him on a marble-popping adventure to uncover the mystery of his past. “
If you have played Luxor in the past you will have an idea how this game works.
The game offers six different game types, but all by the story mode “Journey” is locked at the start of the game, an in-app purchase can be used to unlock the modes or you can wait for them to unlock as you progress through the game.
Generally these new modes are unlocked every 10 stages in Journey mode.
The basics of the game, are your are presented with an area that has a pathway to Sparky. The coloured glutters begin to roll down the pathway towards Sparky at the end. If you do not destroy the glutters before they reach Sparky they will attack, to many hits and it is game over. If you destroy all the glutters in time, you move onto the next area.
The only major difference between this and other coloured items games, is that the glutters come in two sizes large and small. If you hit a small one, it will become bigger. Hit a big one and it will grow bigger and destroy the glutters around it.
There are lots of power ups along the ways, which like colour changes, explode glutters, reverse the glutters etc. These are slowly unlocked as the game progresses.
As the game progresses you encounter additional play modes, like grabbing a glutter from the path and using it in the launcher, instead of the launcher being pre-loaded.
The game is controlled by moving the launcher with you finger and tapping to launch the glutter. You can tap with another finger to change the colour of the glutter in the launcher.
The graphics and sound are very good. There is some beautiful backgrounds in the game.
On the upside:
- Bright and Colourful
- Fast and Furious fun.
- Longevity, with load of level to play in Journey and then the additional modes unlocked.
On the downside:
- Not the most original game.
- Too Addictive, I need to do some work.
Overall, this is not the most original game around, and over the years I have played many like this one. However, it puts its own spin on things and is fun to play. For 69p it is would be worthwhile getting it just for the longevity it offers, but add to this a fun and addictive game makes it well worth getting. If you like luxor, zuma, sparkle or other such games then this will give you more of the same, and is a bit more forgiving if one glutter gets through.
