Mad Maks 3D HD is a vehicle based combat game and is released by Noumena Productions Ltd.

“As the pilot of your battle vehicle, your need to defend your units and dodge waves of enemy attack in order to deliver your forces to victory!”

The game is basically a 3D vehicle based shooter. The game offers a tutorial that will take you through the basics of the controls.

Each stages you will be given a mission (usually destroy all the enemy) and then you set off to complete the level. There are four vehicles on offer, but you normally only have one that you can use.

There are only ten stages which are played on easy (as the higher difficulties are locked). The ten levels will take about a hour or two to complete. The easy level lives up to its name, which the computer helpers doing half the job if you are a bit slow killing the enemy.

Once complete the easy level, you can play them all again, first on normal and then hard.

The five challenge levels add a bit more longevity, but not much.

The game is control by a virtual controller (D-Pad on most levels), along with dodge buttons, weapon switch and fire button.

The graphics and sound are good. The graphics use a reasonable engine, but do not expect amazing HD graphics.

My main issue with the game is the change in vehicles. Ground based combat works well, but the air based is nowhere near as polished or fun.

On the upside:

  • Good ground based combat.
  • Challenges to add to the 10 levels at three difficulty levels.
  • The promise of multiplayer (but not in the app now)

On the downside:

  • The odd bug with levels not finishing when all the enemies are cleared.
  • Dull flying levels, which are hard to control.
  • I agree the graphics are 3D, but not HD (only size wise)

Overall, this is a game to two halfs. The tank and walker sides are good with well designed. The flying side is dull, hard to control and sometimes annoying. If the game had stuck to the ground combat side it could have been so much better.
