NINJA THROW HD [IOS] – REVIEW (72%)

14 Nov

Ninja Throw HD is a puzzle game released by Clickgamer.com.

“The path of the ninja is a long and challenging one, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun!Play the part of the tiny ninja with expert shuriken-throwing skills in this puzzle adventure game.”

Gameplay wise, you are given a level to complete, this is done by hitting a gong with a throwing star. In the training levels this is easy as you can aim and time you throw to avoid moving items and using the winds to effect the throw. Then things become more complicated as you are given elements (wind) that you can place yourself. (This is not an option on every levels, only when necessary to complete the level.)

The challenges come in the form of the elements, sensai’s that effect the gravity pulling or pushing the star from themselves and other such difficulties.

Each level you can earn up to three throwing stars on completion. These are based on time and the number of throws made.

The game has around 60 levels to play over five main areas and a bonus one. As you gain more stars these are areas are unlocked.

The controls are simple with you moving an aiming line and then tapping the ninja to fire a throwing star. The throw leaves behind a line that you can then use to judge your next shot.

The graphic and sound have a nice oriental style, but more functional that outstanding.

On the upside:

  • Interesting design.
  • Some tough puzzles to solve
  • Universal App.

On the downside:

  • Lack of ongoing challenge. Just remember the place to aim and retry, and 3 ninja stars are yours.
  • Not a huge amount of levels, so longevity could be an issue.
  • A little dull to play, aim, fire, tweak your aim and try again if you missed.

Overall, this is a nice little puzzle game, but lacks a little on the challenge side. Some puzzles are tough to solve, but once you have worked out the method, simply replay and you can get the maximum award. Within a few hours you can complete all the levels and have 3 stars in most of them. This is not a bad game, but for me lacks real excitement and challenge to bring you coming back for more.
