Pix is a image finding tool and is released by Inglorious Apps.
“Seamlessly search for Images from the Web using popular sites like Bing, Flickr, Google, Picasa and Photobucket. Perfect for doing research, getting cool wallpapers, or just having fun.”
Pix allows you to quickly and easily search the internet for images that you can then import or use on the Touchpad.
The application makes it simple to scroll through the images once they have been returned so you can see which image looks best on the Touchpad screen, by swiping left or right on the screen.
You can even click on the numbering at the top of the image and get a scrollable thumbnail bar to navigate to another image.
Export options include things like Save Images, Email Image and “Set as Wallpaper”.
As well as the export option you can copy the URL or visit the website from which the image is taken.
From the preferences you can select the “safety” of the images returned, ordering and where the images are saved to (if you wish to download one).
The user interface is well designed and easy to navigate.
On the upside:
- Excellent user interface.
- Lots of export options once an image is found.
- Prefences on the images and sites searched.
On the downside:
- Wish you could search all sites in one go.
- Sometimes search results seemed limited (Google returned 3 million photos for a search, Pix showed 64 and no “more results” tab shown.
Overall, this is a very good application and does exactly what the application sets out to do. It is a simple way to search for images on the web without limiting yourself to Google. This is nothing here you could not do on the web, but the user interface and options just make it much simpler and cuts out the additional steps.
