The Berenstain Bears go on a Ghost Walk is an e-book / audio book and is published by Oceanhouse Media.

“Papa Bear loves Halloween, so he’s thrilled when he’s put in charge of the Bear Country School’s Ghost Walk. He has everything he needs to make it a really spooky night — cobwebs, jack-o’-lanterns, and scary monsters, Frankenbear and Grizzula. Plus, he has two excellent little helpers, Sister and Brother Bear. But, as the Ghost Walk approaches, will Papa Bear learn the hard way that one bear’s fun is another bear’s nightmare? BOO!”

This book gives you the options of reading the book yourself, having the read to you (and you control the page turns) or the complete book read to you automatically. The application also adds extra interaction by touching something on the screen the name appears in print and word is spoken.

This story is a tale of the bears preparation and running of a Ghost Walk for the school. It is a Halloween story and how you can sometimes go too far with your spooky fun.

This book is for kids and adults alike.

As usual the book is well read, however, some of the pages have annoying repeating background sound effects.

On the upside:

  • Interactive with the book adds to the “re-readability” of the book.
  • Universal for iPad and iPhone
  • The usual nice artwork.

On the downside:

  • No page selector to jump into the story to your favorite bit of the book.
  • The background sound on the preparing leave the house section (repeated yippee, hehehe, mmmm and baby noise) goes on for far too many pages.

Overall, this is a nice halloween story. It is not to scary for the kids and is one of the more enjoyable of the Berenstain stories I have read. I think, apart from some of the annoying background noises it could be a halloween favorite for others too.
