Meeting Notes is a note taking tool for meetings and is released by Engine = Car.
When this applications opens you are immediately asked to set up a meeting. You can give it a name, date and location.
Once this is set up, you can add attendees to the meeting. These build up into a contact list within the application, so if you have regular meetings with these people you will only need to select them from the list in future. Editing Contacts does not work well, and I had to delete several to get the data I wanted into the contact list. I would have liked it to pull in the contact list from the Touchpad, as all the people I wanted to add where already in there. You can also tick off people as they arrive (if you wish)
With the attendee list in place you need to add an agenda. This can be a simple place holder and you throw all the notes into one entry, or you can split them into separate points (as it should be) which makes the final meeting notes much easier to read. Again editing the agenda list, especially the indentation is hard.
The user interface is solid enough, with the ability to quickly tab of the column widths you want, some options disappear as you widen or narrow a column. So for example, if someone new joins the meeting half way through you need to expand the attendee column to get the add button back.
The application allows you to email the meeting data as a PDF or print it directly from the device.
Depending on what you are looking for from a note taking application, this application may work for you or may not. Selena our webmistress only has meeting with three people in the office so would work fine for her. However, it would not work for my boss who has several meetings a day with hundreds of people a year. For him the application would need to use the HP contact list and be able to export the data as a txt file to his database system.
On the upside:
- Simple User Interface.
- Great for very small teams to use.
- Nice tool for the meetings note taker.
On the downside:
- I would have liked a way to export the data out of the application, especially if it wants to hold contacts internally and the private notes, rather than just the email PDF option.
- It would have been better for me to pull in contacts from the Touchpad, instead of having to enter them by hand.
- Editing of exciting data like contacts and agenda is difficult or does not work.
Overall, this is a very good application especially if you work in a small team of people who meet fairly regularly. However, as it stands it is not scalable for a person who has regular meetings outside the business. It could certainly do with a few tweaks (especially on the editing of data), but the basics are there and solid enough. I look forward to future enhancements to the applications.
