Supersonic HD is tunnel dodge game released by Kuuasema.

(screenshot taken from app catalog as Touchpad would not make a clear screenshot)

“Supersonic HD is an adrenaline-charged, music-driven 3D ride game. Blaze through radiant neon racing circuits at ever faster speeds, accompanied by electronic beats from Finnish artist collective Kitkaliitto.”

The game offers two styles of play. The Classic mode which is really a survival mode to get as far as you can without hitting a wall and a Blitz mode where you can obtain time bonuses to give you additional playing time. Success in the game is really only recorded in the score you achieved during the game.

Gameplay wise the game runs smoothly with you dodging barriers and bombs, and trying to collect the gems to increase your score and multipliers.

The game is controlled by tilting the device to rotate left and right within the tunnel, the controls can be calibrated and changed in sensitivity, but there are no alternative controls.

The graphics are good and give a feeling of speed, the music is also very good.

On the upside:

  • Fast and Fun gameplay.
  • Smooth vector graphics.

On the downside:

  • Repetitive gameplay.
  • One wall hit and it is all over.

Overall, this is a good game, but I just wished there was a little more to it. With no power ups (in the standard mode) or alternative controls it just feels like something is missing. The game play itself is solid and fun, but feel repetitive after a few games.
