Steve Job’s has resigned from his post of CEO of Apple.

This was not the news I was expecting to wake up to this morning. We have seen it coming for some time, but it is still a shock. Here is the letter given to apple.

To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have often said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the 1st to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees match, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly suggest that we execute our succession program and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I think Apple’s brightest and most revolutionary days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its achievement in a new function.

I have created some of the finest close friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many many years of becoming ready to work alongside you.

We wish Steve, Tim and Apple all the best for the future.
