Arthur Turns Green by Marc Brown is an e-book / audio book and is published by ScrollMotion Kids.

Arthur has been around for 35 years now and on TV in America for 15 years of these, so have a lot of popularity and is a favorite with many people, so surprisingly this is his digital debut.
The application itself is a basic story book that reads the text on each page to you. The artwork takes up the main section of the page with the text appearing in a white box area at the base of the page.
Marc Brown the creator of Arthur reads the text of the pages, with a clear and fun tone.
The application lacks some of the interaction of our books (clicking on art and text for interaction) on the market, but the basics are all covered. Also the book as an table of contents available on any page that allows you to find the section of the book you want by using thumbnail images of the page art (this is often missing from other titles)
The book is the story of Arthur and his new school project, which is turning him “green”.
The story is quite long, taking about 15 minutes to read through, so you get your money worth on the story side.
This book is great for adults or kids who want to know more about being green. (enviromentally friendly)
On the upside:
- Nicely artwork.
- A good solid eco. friendly story.
- A TV character based story, at a reasonable price.
On the downside:
- Lack of interaction with the application, only page turns.
- No “auto-play” option, which would have been nice.
Overall, my family are fans of Arthur and were all very happy to see his first digital outing. The application is not as interactive as it could be, but due to the quality of the reading and artwork this really did not matter to much. If you are fans of Arthur this is a must have application and parents could do well in picking this app up from kids who have an interest in the enviroment.
