Azkend HD is a puzzle action game released by10tons Ltd.

The idea of the game is that you are an archeologicist who is travelling the far east looking for the temple of time to return a relic your team has found to lift a curse.

This game is similar to many three in a row games, but is much better than the run of the mill apps that are normally released. i have played this game in the past on other platforms like iOS and this is the most polished version I have played.

In Azkend HD you have two different game modes to choose from:

  • Adventure – The campaign of the game. Solve the puzzle within the time limit to progress.
  • Survival – Unlocked as you gain amulets. Get the best percentage score in the time limit.

The basics of the game are that you are presented with a puzzle board. The board has hexagon blocks with various icons of each. You need to match a group of three or more by puling your finger over the blocks you wish to match. When a group is matched the hexagon below will change (if a basic block it will show a blue [complete], or change to a basic block if it was made of steel. Once the puzzle is covered with all blue blocks then a section of an amulet will appear on the puzzle, from there you need to move the amulet off the bottom of the board to win it. All the time the clock is counting down, and you fail if time runs out.

The amulets as you get them award powers that will aid you to complete the puzzles. Only one amulet can be used at a time. The amulet icon will appear one some of the blocks on the puzzle and if you group four or more the special power will be activated.

The game is controlled by dragging your finger over the icons you wish to match.

The graphics and sound are very good. The basic graphics of the blocks and icons are functional, but there is some very pretty artwork to go with it. The music is asia in style and can be beautiful and relaxing.

On the upside:

  • Bright and Colourful
  • Extremely fun puzzle action.

On the downside:

  • Too Addictive, I need to do some work.

Overall, this is one of the best puzzle games I have played. I had to drag myself away from the Touchpad to complete this review. I have played the game before, but I believe this is the best version to date. If you like puzzle games this is a must have and is well worth downloading.
