Cars 2 is a run and jump game released by Disney.
You are puts you in the role of one of four characters from the Cars 2 movie. You can select from Lightning McQueen, Mater, Holley Shiftwell and Finn McMissile.
The game is then played by selecting between the Oil Rig (Easy), Tokyo (Medium) and London (Hard). Each level has eight stages.
The game is a run and jump style game in the same way as Canabalt and Monster Dash, and to be honest does not match either of these titles.
The gameplay is a bit lack luster. You need to pick items up for bonuses, but they are not well defined from the items that need to be jumped or avoided (pick ups are smaller than the larger obstructions). Some items are almost impossible to avoid as they slide down ramps you are driving up, if you jump these you crash into the next batch, double jump or not.
The game is controlled by pushing the screen to jump, and tap again for a bigger jump. You can also tilt the device left and right to tilt the vehicle.
The sound and graphics are good, but nothing stands out.
On the upside:
- Movie Tie In
On the downside:
- Not universal.
- Average gameplay.
Overall, this is a just above average “run and jump” style game and really a loose connection to Cars 2. I feel is will disappoint Cars fans and there are better run and jump titles out there. My suggestion is to try the lite version, and if you like it then get them game, otherwise spend your money on a better app.
