THE LEVIATHAN CHRONICLES [PODCAST] – REVIEW (75%)

21 Jun

The Leviathan Chronicles is a sci-fi thriller write and released by Chrisof Laputka.

This podcast is a story by Chrisof Laputka and is presetted as an audio drama, with multiple voice actors.

The story tells the story of Macallan Orsel, a young scientist that is drawn into a secret war between two factions of immortals and a mortal group who wish to steal their secrets.

The chronicles are split into two sessions, with session one fully released.

The podcast is unusual as most book as just read, but this version has multiple actors, sound effects and music to make it into a real experience. I found the audio drama worked very well, but some of the explanation work seemed a bit strange at times (for the situation).

On the upside:

  • Excellent presentation
  • Good voice acting
  • Epic storyline

On the downside:

  • Some episodes are a little long.
  • A bit too techy and too much explanation at times.

Overall, this is an excellent story and the audio drama works well. My only issue is really that characters trying to explain some of the issues in too much detail that seems “out of character” or how the characters decide their injures, rather than a narrator. With all that said, the Leviathan Chronicles are well worth a listen.
