City of Secrets HD is a point and click adventure released by Aidem Media.
The game puts you in control of Mole, a dim but likeable chap who has to find and rescue Rex, to do this Mole must explore the weird and wonderful world of Poco Pane that is below his basement.
The idea of the game is to travel from location to location, collecting objects and clues all of which will alway you to finally reach your goal.
The game is controlled by tapping on objects you wish to use and locations you wish to travel to.
The point and click side of the adventure is great and works well, some of the clues are tough to locate even with the built in help, which is generally very helpful.
I have previously played the iPhone version and due to the screen size of the iPad and how you interact with the large screen makes the game feel a little more polished even though it is pretty similar. The character portraits when talking is a nice addition.
The same issues remain as with the iPhone version, but are made a little less annoying due to the screen sizes due to being able to see the items a bit clearer and your hand not being in the way of the whole screen.
The graphics are excellent, with the character being likeable. The music and voice acting are also very good.
On the upside:
- Really well designed point and click adventure.
- Very funny at times.
- Loveable characters.
On the downside:
- Annoying garbage mini game (does not last too long, thank goodness) and sweet potatoes search.
- Some objects are hard to find even with the build in help, as if you click them at the wrong time they will appear to do nothing.
Overall, this is a solid point and click adventure. It is very funny at times and very well put together. If it was not for the trickness of finding some objects and the annoying garabage and sweet potato collecting this game would be one of the best adventures I have played in a long time. I am certainly looking forward to City of Secrets 2 and other games by Aidem Media.
