PAPER GLIDER CRAZY COPTER [IPHONE] – REVIEW (79%)

08 Jun

Paper Glider Crazy Copter is an reaction / puzzle arcade flyer released by Neon Play.

The game puts you in control of a small paper helicopter that needs to navigate its way through levels in which you need to using timing, speed and reactions to dodge and avoid objects and reach the landing pad at the end of the level.

There are currently sixty levels in the game, with more promised in the future. If you hit the walls or other objects in the level your helicopter will explode and you will need to restart the level.

As you progress through the game you obtain coins that can be spend on upgrades, power ups, shields and new helicopters.

There are some in-app purchases that allow for the purchase of coins or to give you the ability to skip difficult levels (the game starts by giving you the chance to skip three)

The game is controlled by using three virtual buttons left and right, and lift/fly button.

The graphics and sound are reasonble, but for a game like this you do not really need fancy graphics as it is all in the gameplay.

On the upside:

  • Enjoyable gameplay
  • Nicely designed levels

On the downside:

  • The adverts at the top of the screen can be distracting at times
  • Does not seem to be a way to pay to get rid of the adverts if you like the game.
  • Coins are a little slow to unlock in game.
  • No checkpoints in the longer levels.

Overall, this game plays really well and there is enjoyment to be found here, especially as the application is free. The lack of option to get rid of the ads leads you to switching off WiFi. It would be nicer if coins could be earnt more quickly, but as a freemium title you expect a push to send real money as soon as possible.
