Bug Heroes is a twin stick combat / defence game released by Foursaken Meda.
The game puts you in control of three insects who have the task of collecting food and defending the food store from being robbed by the enemy creatures. The food is also used to heal the insect. So this game really becomes an interesting mix of twin stick combat and resource management. There is even an RPG element, as experience is gained for upgrading your insect.
You are given three insects to start the game with (others are available for in-app purchases) these are ant (long range attacks), beetle (strong close combat) and spider (fast close combat), you can switch between these creatures at any time, but only the creature in use will really get an experience to upgrade.
There is a story mode you can play through, that unlocks levels if you survive long enough. There is also a collusium mode, which is basically a survival mode, which allows for all the upgrades of the main game, and even saves your progress if you have to quit out for any reason.
The game is controlled by the twin sticks, the left for the move, and right for the weapon. There are also buttons on a side bar to the right for any special upgrades/equipment you buy.
The graphics and sound are excellent. You are able to zoom in and out on the battle field so you can find the size of display that works for you.
On the upside:
- Fast paced combat action.
- Lots of upgrades and equipment
On the downside:
- The odd slow down at times.
- A little repetitive, even with the missions etc.
Overall, I really enjoyed this game, it is a solid twin stick shooter / combat game, and the addition of the defence and collection of food, and missions makes it more than other games of this type. The developers have clearly thought long and hard on how to give the game longevity. I highly recommend downloading as it is Free, and just give it a go, it may not be perfect, but you will be glad it is on your device.
