MEN VS MACHINES – REVIEW (79%)

15 Apr

Men vs Machines is a Freemium twin stick shooter by Glu.

If you own Gun Bros another title by Glu, the immediate thing you will notice when you get this game is everything apart from the sound and graphics are almost identical. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but this game could have been more.

The idea of the game is that the year is 240 AD, you can select between Nicolas (father) and Thomas (son) Becker to fight against the vicious robot army G.E.A.R., and the evil dictator Eisenberg.

The game world is very much along the lines of steam punk and chaos engine.

The basics of the game as to fight your wave through wave after wave of attacks, gaining gears, which can then be turned into money to purchase weapons, armour and power ups. You can carry two weapons at a time, and can switch between them.

The game is controlled by the standard twin stick joysticks, with some on screen buttons to switch weapons etc.

The graphics and sound are very game. The artwork is well drawn with some nice character artwork.

On the upside:

  • Solid twin stick shooter action
  • Lots of Armour and Weapons to earn and buy.

On the downside:

  • Very similar to Gun Bros, and not as much unlocked in this game yet.
  • You will more than likely have to pay real cash to progress far into this game.

Overall, this is a nice steam punk game shooter, and will keep you happy until the real Chaos Engine is released on iOS. If you own and play Gun Bros, then there is not much new to see here. If you like your twin stick shooters then this application is well worth a look.
