SNIPPETS [MAC] – REVIEW (82%)

02 Apr

Snippets is a “text expander” application released by Conceited Software.

This application is designed to allow you to set up an item within the snippets clipboard and allows you to paste them into another application by typing in a shortcut code.

Just remember to make your shortcut is something you are not going to type in by mistake.

For example, as I test this I typed in “igrev”, and this immediately pasted my review template into the article.

The applications allow you to add rich text, so it allows for multiple fonts and images. There is also place holders that you can set up, these can be things like signatures and date/time entry.

Snippets also has the ability to be switched off in some applications.

On the upside:

  • Good user interface.
  • Simple to add new clips

On the downside:

  • Some formatting can be lost or look strange within the clip.

Overall, this is a great little application that can be a real time saver, it will take you a little while to get set up and get use to having these shortcuts into your workflow, but when you do you will wonder why you never used a text expander before. Snippets works well and is cheaper than the other alternatives available.
