Turbo Grannies is a balance controlled driving game release by Imperial Game Studio.

You play the game as Turbo Granny, a lady who find the nursing home is boring her to death and see needs some excitement and speed, so escapes.

The idea of the game is simple. You make your way through the three levels of the game (Mountain, Desert and Urban) as you enjoy your freedom.

The game is control by pressing the left side of the screen to brake, the right to speed up, and then the tilt control to rotate left and right to help landing and move over the terrain.

The game is generally fun to play and there are several checkpoints during the level, so it you fall from the vehicle you do not need to play from the start of the level again.

The game has a nice sense of humour with the Granny laughing in delight as she make a big jump or a whimper of pain at the crash.

The graphics and sounds are both good. This game I think would have benefitted from an intro story (FMV or story board)

On the upside:

  • Fun to play
  • Two other play areas to select from if you are stuck on one.

On the downside:

  • The base game play is similar to lots of other games.
  • No game center support, by this is coming.
  • Not universal

Overall, this is a good little game, especially for the casual gamer, it is fairly addictive once you start playing with you wanting to finish the level. If you are a fan of balance controlled driving games this is a good one and worth a look. However, other than the variable terrian there is nothing really new to see here.
