We have just spotted something new on one of our favorite little Apps – Talking Carl.

There is now a strange box type character in his place.

Why you may ask? Well it looks like the developers are holding a challenge to design a new character for the game. The winner will have their character put into the game for all to see.

The developers have come up with a great idea to get people interested in the application again.

Here are three more games that have got a lot of play time this week.

1) Cut the Rope – Chillingo Ltd [iPhone/iPod Touch and iPad] (£0.59 / £1.19 HD) – 90%

Still an excellent game to play, with the Valentine update adding another box to the game.

2) WackaMonsta – DanLabGames [Universal] (Free) – 80%

A good puzzle bobble clone, that plays very well. Best of all it is free.

3) TurboGrafx-16 GameBox – Hudson [iPhone/iPod Touch] (Free) – 75%

An arcade game emulator, you can buy some of your favourite old games for £1.79. 10 minutes of free play every day on a random game.

We do not normally do trailers for games on the site, but this one was just to interesting and bizarre to ignore.

Asphalt 6: Adrenaline is a high speed racing game from Gameloft.

The idea behind the game is just to have a career in the game, you do standard races, eliminations (do not be the last car when the timer runs out, Beam ’em All (crash other cars off the road) etc. There are some new events like Under Pressure, which is a survival game.

The game offers you a career mode which is necessary to play to upload cars and races for the other modes of the game. As you progress through the game you get stars and cash. The stars unlock vehicles, but you still need the cash to buy them. As you progress in the career new car kits and tracks are also unlocked.

The driving in the game is controlled by the cursor controls and space bar for nitro, you can change the view by using the 1,2 or 3 key.

The sounds are is good, and the graphic are excellent, but there are some minor “pop-up” in the game, but not many at all.

On the upside:

  • Lots of licensed cars / bikes
  • Fast pasted driving game

On the downside:

  • Custom controls would be nice.
  • Graphics only a little better than iPad version

Overall, this is an excellent racing game. I found it easier to control than the iOS version, I did not slam into the wall so often. If you like burn out style games then this is well worth a download, especially at this price.

The follow applications have been updated over the last few weeks, and have made them worth another look.

Daily Notes +Todo – Ramki: 84% (up from 76%)

Daily Notes has really evolved since the first time I saw it. As well as having multiple notes per day (like a Diary and Journal), it now has several enhanced functions including Task Management, Bullet points and even Dropbox backup.

Pocket God – Bolt Creative: Now 84% (up from 79%)

Pocket God is now on the 37th episode, and will soon be appearing on Facebook. This latest patch has added yet another mini game to the ever expanding world. It was episode 33 when I first reviewed this, since then it has got two new mini games and several new features. Since priced at £0.59 it offers several mini games that other developers would charge you £0.59 each for.
