Spirits for iPad is a beautiful puzzle game released by Spaces of Play.

The games gives you the task of saving some strange leaf like Spirits from various dangers in each levels so they can reach the exit. The creatures can sacrifice themselves to dig, blow, block or build to help the others escape.

The graphics and sound are both beautiful, and have a very unique feel.

On the upside:

  • A excellent puzzle game with 40 levels
  • Simple and relaxing puzzles

On the downside:

  • A fast forward option would be a nice addition.

Overall, this game is both beautiful and playable. The puzzles can be completed without having to be perfect, the perfect score is not so easy. It also allows you to skip a level if you really do get stuck. Getting the hang of how the blower work is vital to you success, but once this is done the game moves along nicely.

SuperFall Pro is a rag doll damage game and is released by Craneballs Studios LLC

This game gives you a rag doll of various health and strength. The doll then drops and you have to tilt the screen to keep them falling. They can get stuck in traps and smashed to prices by gears etc. You need to try and fall as far as possible and collect experience stars as you fall.

The graphics and sound are functional rather than anything exciting, some of the rag doll costumes are interesting.

On the upside:

  • Fun damaging the rag dolls

On the downside:

  • Repetitive gameplay

Overall, this a fun game to play for a while, but after a while it just grows old. Unlocking new costumes are nice, but does not add a great deal to the game.

Christmas Delights – Pocket Software (Design your own Christmas tree.)

ARSoccer – Augmented Reality Soccer Game – Laan Labs (Keep the ball up with your feet and iPhone camera.)

Plasma Globe – Infinite Dreams Inc. (Play a plasma ball shooter or just the plasma ball.)

Slingshot Safari – Digital Prunes, Inc. (Knock out creatures with your sling shot.)

A Different Point of View is a witty look at the Star Wars movies from the Empires side.

The podcast is the Star Wars universe through the eyes of  a stormtrooper. It is thoughtful and clever. It really gives you a different view of the Star Wars stories and funny in places.

The sound and presentation is very good.

On the upside:

  • Extremely funny in places
  • A great addition to the Star Wars universe

On the downside:

  • The podcast was too short lived.

Overall, there were too few podcasts in this series, but what there is, is well worth a listen.

Star Battalion HD is a 3D air combat and is released by Gameloft.

The application opens to some nice FMV of a massive space combat. You can select between the campaign and the multiplayer game. The campaign gives you a short training mission to learn the basics. Then it is into the game for real, and the game itself is a tough air combat game.

Multiplayer is available via Wi-Fi or BlueTooth for local player or via Wi-Fi for online.

The graphics are very good. The black edges that were present in the iPhone version are mostly gone. Sounds, Music and Voices are all very good.

On the upside:

  • Excellent Air combat game
  • Good controls both with joystick and tilt.

On the downside:

  • The speed controls are not great, and felt they could have been better implemented.

Overall, this game is excellent. It plays well and I can see the campaign keeping me busy for a while. With the addition of a good multi player game this will extend the longevity of the game. This game is more at home on the iPad version, than the iPhone version. The game has a quality feel to it.
